Acceptable use
Fair use.
JAQ can act in the real world: it calls people, sends texts, spends your money and sends helpers to addresses. That power is why these rules exist. They are part of our terms of service.
What you can do
Almost anything a good personal assistant would do for you: research, drafting, reminders, bookings, chasing businesses, reading your post, keeping your diary, finding someone to mow the lawn. If in doubt, ask it; it will tell you if something is outside the rules.
What you must not do
Breaking the law or hurting people
- Use JAQ for anything illegal, or to help anyone else do something illegal.
- Harass, threaten, stalk, intimidate or abuse anyone, including the businesses the assistant calls and the helpers you book.
- Discriminate against a helper on the grounds of a protected characteristic.
- Ask the assistant to create or send content that is sexual involving children, that incites violence or hatred, or that is otherwise unlawful.
Calls and texts
- Ask the assistant to call or text anyone to deceive them, to sell to them, or for marketing or "cold calling" of any kind.
- Make nuisance calls: repeated or unwanted calls to the same number, calls meant to annoy or tie up a line, or calls to people who have asked not to be contacted.
- Ask the assistant to pretend it is human, to pretend to be you or anyone else, or to hide that the call is recorded.
- Use your JAQ number to receive security codes, to register for services in a way that breaks their rules, or as a number you give to the emergency services.
- Ask it to contact private individuals (at launch it calls businesses only), or to contact a person who has told it, or you, to stop.
Money
- Pay with a card that is not yours or that you are not allowed to use.
- Try to get around spending limits, holds, approvals or the monthly ceiling.
- Ask for a refund for something you did receive, or dispute a legitimate charge with your bank without first telling us.
Helpers
- Book a helper for anything on our not-at-launch list: childcare, care of vulnerable adults, regulated trades (gas, electrics), anything medical, overnight stays, or anything dangerous.
- Ask a helper to do something unlawful, unsafe, or different from the job you booked without agreeing it in the app.
- Arrange work with a helper outside JAQ within 12 months of a job.
- Record or photograph a helper without telling them, or share their details.
The service itself
- Share your account or let anyone under 18 use it.
- Use JAQ for a business, or resell it, until we offer a plan for that.
- Probe, scan or attack our systems, try to access another user's data, or send malware. (If you find a security problem, tell [email protected] and we will thank you.)
- Use automated tools to drive the assistant at volume, or try to extract our prompts, models or software.
- Upload content you have no right to share.
Relying on it for the wrong things
- Treat the assistant as a doctor, lawyer, accountant or financial adviser, or as a way to contact the emergency services. It is not any of those.
- Ask it to make decisions about other people (hiring, lending, housing, insurance) that the law says a person must make.
How we enforce this
- The assistant refuses requests that break these rules and tells you why.
- We monitor patterns (call volumes, who is being called, repeated disputes) and pause activity that looks like abuse. A person at JAQ reviews every pause.
- For a first, minor breach we warn you. For serious or repeated breaches we suspend or close your account under section 13 of the terms, and we may refuse to refund credit used on the abusive activity.
- Where we must, we report unlawful activity to the police or regulators.
