Cookies

Cookies and storage.

Version 1.0 · 5 October 2026

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. We use as few as we can, and none for advertising or tracking you across other sites. Because we use only cookies that are strictly necessary for the service to work, we do not show a cookie banner.

Our website (jaq.app)

The website sets no cookies of its own. If you join the early access list, your email goes to our server and nothing is stored in your browser.

Two things on the website do talk to other companies:

The web app (app.alxys.co)

NameWhat it doesHow long
alxys_sessionKeeps you signed in. It is a random reference to your session, holds no personal data, and cannot be read by scripts on the page.Until you sign out, or 30 days.
alxys_csrfStops other websites from sending requests to JAQ as you.For the session.
alxys_signed_inA simple yes/no on alxys.co so the website can send you straight to the app when you are signed in. Holds no secret.Until you sign out, or 30 days.
__cf_bmCloudflare's bot check, as above.30 minutes.

The web app also keeps a few settings in your browser's local storage, so the app opens the way you left it: your theme (light or dark), the last tab you had open, a draft message you had not sent, and a registration for push notifications if you turned them on. None of this leaves your browser except the push registration, which goes to your browser maker so they can deliver notifications.

The phone apps

The iPhone and Android apps do not use cookies. They store your sign-in token securely on the device (the Keychain on iPhone, the Keystore on Android) and the same settings as the web app.

Analytics

We do not use analytics cookies or third-party analytics services. To understand how JAQ is used we count things on our own servers (how many people used a feature, how long a reply took), without tracking individuals across sites. If we ever add a tool that would need your consent, we will ask for it first, in the app, and this notice will change.

Managing cookies

You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. If you block alxys_session you will not be able to stay signed in to the web app. Signing out removes the session cookies.

Questions: [email protected]. For what we do with the data behind these cookies, see the privacy notice.
